Mwembe Lodge
The Mwembe Lodge is situated at the confluence of the Tana River and the Indian Ocean at about 160 Km north of Malindi. The lodge offers accomodation in 9 comfortable bungalows and features a main dining structure. All the bungalows are set in a luxurious tropical garden overlooking the breathtaking panoramic view of the massive Tana River Delta, where the waters of the river meet the ocean to form one of the most magnificent landscapes in Kenya.
The remote region of the Delta, thanks to its geographical location, is still uncontaminated by mass tourism and is a perfect destination for those looking for a tour with a difference, away from the hustle bustle of the busy resorts. 4x4 safari vehicles are used for game drives and walking safaris can also be organised upon request, Visitors can also enjoy exciting boat trips to explore the rich population of hippos and crocodiles along the river. The Delta, together with the river and its encompassing forests, is the home of some 20.000 birds ranging from Pelicans to Fish Eagles to Herons.The Lodge is fully equipped for all types of excursions. There are suitable boats, for spectacular river rides or for deep-sea fishing aswell as comfortable 4x4 vehicles for overland safaris for those wishing to experience the feeling of the exclusive African wilderness.Another easily reachable destination is the famous and fascinating Island of Lamu.
Accommodation
On a hill overlooking the enchanting view of the Tana River estuary and the Indian Ocean are the 9 Mwembe Lodge bungalows. All the rooms have large en suite private bathrooms, with unique bath tubs and showers with hot water. The bedrooms are furnished with two cupboards, personal electronic safety deposit box, characteristic Swahili four-poster double beds draped with mosquito repellent net. Insect and mosquto repellent net is also fitted on the windows even though there are very few mosquitos in the area.
The bedrooms are spacious enough to accommodate a third bed upon request. Each bungalow has an ample breezy verandah with comfortable chairs for private relax and inspiring views of what the best of Nature can offer.
