Several years ago I received an email from Kat, one of our Bushdrummers, asking for a recommendation for Satao Camp in Tsavo East. I naturally gave them an excellent one. Kat stayed there several times last year and loves it as much as I.

In planning my upcoming trip I discovered that Kat will be in Kenya at the same time as I. I'll be spending two entire weeks at Satao Camp. Since she arrives in Kenya before me, she'll be doing Samburu first. Then she has arranged to arrive at Satao for two weeks starting my second week there. Thus in February Bushdrums will be well represented at Satao Camp in Tsavo East!

We are both looking foward to officially meeting one another at last, sharing our love of wildlife and hoping to see many elephants, zebra, giraffe, hippos, waterbuck, impalas, monkeys, baboons and other animals at the waterhole.

Great stuff - sounds like there will be a good party there.

Jan - any idea of when you will be in Kenya around 2010 - ?

I usually leave here the end of January and the end of July, trying to ensure that I'll be there during the dry season to see more wildlife. Though the rainy season is cheaper, I wouldn't want to go then and miss the huge herds (and there are more nyoka around during the rains).

As long as my health holds up and the economy gets a little better, I would presume I would do the same in 2010.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all say "see you in Tsavo!"?

It would really be great.
I may be there in January however all needs to be finalised.
The most IMPORTANT situation is your health - and of course it will be good and in high spirits.
The economy - of course very important but I wish your health the number 1 priority and I am sure you will be 101% ready to run from any Nyoka that decides to cross your footpath in your beloved bush.
