For Jan
Oh Kipper, a huge ASANTE SANA! Was a great clip. Now I am starting to get psyched up for my trip the end of July.
The elephants in your clip from Zim seem thin compared to what I am used to seeing, yet there seemed to be a lot of green vegetation in the background. Was it the dry season where they weren't getting enough food? I loved watching the babies react with the families also.
I loved the music you had accompanying the clip. Is it from a DVD of African music that is available in stores? If so, what is the name of it and the group that performed it. I enjoyed it and would like to purchase it.
The music is from Terry Oldfield, the brother of Mike Oldfield, of "Tubular Bells" fame.
He has won a number of awards for his Wildlife documentary theme music, that is how I found out about him many years ago.
A lot of his music is "New Age!" and he does repeat a melody in different guises on various compositions, but I like the atmosphere in his music.
The music for this video is part of the track from the "The Africans" from the "Spirit of the World" Album.
Also try the "Spirit of Africa" CD.
My favourite of all his music is "Spirit of Tibet" Try it, on your own, relaxed!....Who needs illegal substances?

Hey! Nico and you thought I was just an old wrinkled "Back street" Englishman!

Everyone was waiting for the rains but also this was videoed in Hawange Which geographically really is part of the Northern Kalahari & the elephants were struggling between water & food. Where there was water the food had long gone, where there was food for them there was no water.
The next video I am working on is of lions with a dead elephant, I know not if it is a kill or a scavenge but every day we found a dead elephant or calf.
They may have not been lion kill as we also found a carcass untouched but the following day the wildlife department had slashed it open to allow access for the scavengers.
Kipper:
Thanks so much for the information on Terry Oldfield. I will see if I can get some of his music to enjoy.
You made my day!
Kipper:
I just logged onto Terry's website and ordered all three albums that you suggested. Don't know how long it will take it to get to the US from Australia, but the wait will be well worth it.
Thanks again.
