I am keeping my fingers crossed for our Kenyan (12) & Ethiopian (3) runner friends.

We have had almost five inches of rain in the last 20 hours and winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour. Despite the rain and wind the marathon will take place.

They are saying the real problem for the runners will be hypothermia when they get wet from the rain, blisters on feet (when snearkers get wet they swell) and getting blown along the course from the wind gusts in 40 degree Fahrenheit weather.

It will certainly be different for our African friends running the race. I can only wish them all well

It takes nature millions of years to evolve a new species. It takes only minutes to eradicate one from the wild forever.

No Kenyan women winners today.

However, Robert Cheruiyot was again the winner at 2:14:12. This was the slowest marathon since 1977 - but understandable with the rain and heavy wind.

Robert will be taking another big paycheck back to Kenya!

It takes nature millions of years to evolve a new species. It takes only minutes to eradicate one from the wild forever.
