Dreadful news from the Selous in Tanzania

A friend, who is a former game warden, emailed me this morning. He had just heard from a long-time friend who is an Africa lover. She states:

"I have heard terrible things about the Selous. A group went on a 7 day walking trip and saw only ONE elephant dropping that was old. No Elephants were seen at all and they found one skinned lion. All researchers, scientists have had their permits revoked or not renewed and flyovers are not allowed. All old/experienced Game wardens have been fired or disappeared. The Ivory records in Dar were destroyed by a fire that "miraculously did not burn the ivory" only the records room was burned . The Lodge managers there are being harrassed and Tourists are unwanted. Very sad. I don't know how I will be able to tell my Father about this."

It takes nature millions of years to evolve a new species. It takes only minutes to eradicate one from the wild forever.
