i would not have thought that bushdrums would offer a forum for hunting!

Bushdrums does not promote hunting! It offers a platform for those involved in wildlife protection or affected by it, to discuss the situation and hopefully come to a solution to the benefit of wildlife where all sides can be satisfied. There are hundreds of organizations calling out for "a" and hundreds calling out for "b". Bushdrums believes that only when you bring them together to the same table to discuss it together, you will come up with a solution. A unique endeavour so far and it is up to our members to make it work!!

A guest does not even have access to this part of the forum, leave alone make any comment.

We kindly asked bwanamich to join our forum because we wanted to hear his opinion. We believe, unless we are fully in the picture of what is happening, we can not form the correct opinion. I personally do not consider myself fully informed and therefore I would like to collect as much information as possible.

Bushdrums allows links in the forum as long as they are related to the subject and in this case the link is very well related to the subject.

Why is the content very questionable? Can you justify it? I can not and as long as I can't, I take it as it is.

a contradiction in itself!

a study always shows the interest of the individual or group who/which pays for it! that is a worldwide known fact!!!
keep it simple: hunting/killing has nothing to do with CONSERVATION in the words genuine sense at all!

The above definition of the word "Conservation" from an English dictionary. Pay particular attention to the word "utilization". This can mean consumptive and/or non-consumptive utilization.

As you say, "a study always shows the interest of the individual or group who/which pays for it!". so if a study was made by ABC that hunting in Kenya should not occur and it was funded by Animal rights groups, we should not trust its recommendations? Interesting.

He he, this is exactly the point of bushdrums. There are so many organizations and associations coming from all sides, each telling us their side of the story. Bushdrums is not trying to find the "winner of the debate" but collect the knowledge from all sides to create a solution based on the exchanged information. As bwanamich recently stated in another post, when you include the community in the decision of which land to spare, they cannot complain about it later as they made the decision themselves.

Professional hunters like bwanamich spend an increadible amount of time in the bush observing wildlife. They speak to locals, observe changes, migrations, behaviour etc. It would be a huge mistake not to listen to them and benefit from their knowledge. Also, if you want to find a solution for existing conflicts, you have to listen to both sides and try to understand where they are coming from. By simply ignoring one side and appying rules or laws on them, you will always have them against you in the future and most likely your project is dedicated to fail from the very beginning.
