Correct; Kenya does accommodate to Mass Tourism - I am refering to every national park to rollem in and out - Open Zoo's like in Ambo, Mara, parts of Tzavo & Nairobi.
There are some places which are still quite isolated - for now.
From what I understand TZ has managed to control this well - I think. Do not quote me as I have not been to TZ for a long time.

Saying that - I hear that parts of South Africa are taking the same direction...!!

nico, you are right; now i've got you
TZ is not THAT crowded - even serengeti is not! especially when it comes to serengti: the number of camps is not too big. but this is what especially the masai mara hasn't been considering: limitations of camps. and the surounding districts which allow almost everybody to put up a camp as long as the owner pays the masai!
ngorongoro is sharply facing that mass tourism thing.
SA - kruger, umfolozi etc. as well.
namibia in view to etosha and sossusvlei is also massy not to mention all these 4x4 with roof tents which travel the namibian roads especially frequented by german speaking travellers...............seems to be still a feeling of "good old south-west-africa-homeland-thing"
botswana is doing fine - mostly and zambia is still good.

Zimbabwe?

Link to this post 05 Aug 07

zim is obviously a NO GO now.
knife with two edges: no one wants to support the mugabe regime. on the other hand one should support the people who are desperately looking for work which isn't there because of lack of tourists.............
but as soon as zim changes to the better zam will have a problem because zim hospitality industry has got the plans in the drawers and must just take them out and start all over again with all the knowledge from the past. and also the people are - mostly - very well educated which obviously is not the case in zam right now.
just wait and see what's going on in zim...

there are some voices which say that robert mugabe and his regime won't be able to support their regima much longer. but what is coming next???????????

Zimbabwe is our next trip. Hawange, Matusadona, Mana pools.

Couldn't find the right trip for us in Zambia.
with research Zimbabwe offered the sort of trip & experiences we enjoy, in & out via Vic Falls.

Supporting Mugabe? I don't know! All is lost when dialog dies!
To our western eyes he's the villain but I believe to the native people of Africa, whoever they are, he's their hero with land reforms.
Perhaps he's right but really stuffed it up with the way he implemented it.

Hate is a terrible emotion!

I am sure once her is out - Zim will change for the better - !
He has created only negative situations for most of the people of Zimbabwe.

He has done land reforms but the land has not been managed better - look what is happening...
Things will inprove when he is gone! Hopefully soon -
