Cody - At bottom of this message is the link to the Infrared Satellite Image of North Africa which is constantly being updated. Unfortunately, the rains have failed in most of Kenya - the rains are very patchy. Tsavo has done ok, as well as the coastal areas, but Amboseli is dry as well as the major tea growing areas in the eastern Rift Valley and the northern rains are very localized.

I clicked on my previously posted accuweather radar screen (above) and finally saw that almost all of Kenya was blotted out by heavy clouds. Then I asked about certain areas like Amboseli which has suffered the most in this 3-year drought and lo and behold - Amboseli is reported to be getting significant rains, at last!

Tamarind update: The twins became triplets last week and now I notice the fourth seed starting to sprout. The original sprouts are now up about three inches. Since they are in the sun indoors all morning they have been doing well. I'm worrying though about the gray winter days when we don't have much sun. Maybe I'll have to put them under "grow lights" to give them a helping hand. Will be interesting in following their growth.
