Pippa on the move again....
Pippa going to new territory or returning to a place you know already?
hi nico,
i just had to re-arrange my trip to southern africa and so i am leaving on oct 21.
i am visiting botswana and zambia again but add zimbabwe for a brief visit..
i was very reluctant to visit zim because i didn't want to support the mugabe regime. but somehow i made up my mind as a result of a conversation i had with a lady from zim in joburg last febr. she urged me to revise my opinion in order to support the people of zim. of course the visa fee goes straight into mugabe's pockets but the money i leave with the people makes it worthwhile to visit. . so when i decided on that upcoming trip i made it 4 more days put aside for zim in order to have a look whether the wildlife is prolific despite all the poaching.
i have got a good feeling to include zimbabwe especially as the people are at the edge of starvation and i am happy to leave my footprints there. i am sure if zim pays off i'll send clients there beginning next may after the rainy season is over. and of course my hope is that the new government including tsvangirai leads zimbabwe into a bright future of more democracy and stability.
i'll post a trip report when i get back but that will take some time because when i return there are two more european trips in the pipeline
so i have to ask for some more patience.
I agree with you to travel and help the community - Visa money goes into the government pocket but what you spend on the road usually helps those in need.
Enjoy - !
