GO SEE KENYA' - THE GREAT GREEN EXPERIENCE

Coastweek

In a world of Environmental change and with the current focus on 'green cars', 'offsetting carbon emissions' and 'buying more local food products' comes a demand for holidays that stand up to scrutiny from the discerning client, those that deem 'responsible holiday experiences' to be the latest 'must have'.

Gone are the days where paying to see the local community dance for you and taking trips to local markets to buy their products are enough, clients now want an experience that surpasses all expectations and with which they can wow their friends round the dinner table on their return.

Go See Kenya provides an 'experience' rather than just a holiday, if you are tired of sitting on the beach, lying by the pool sipping a gin and tonic or relaxing with a book and want to shake things up, then this trip will be for you (although we do let you off now and again for a spot of R & R!).

We believe that you will go home more relaxed and revived than a typical holiday, not because you will be relaxing doing very little but because you will be participating in something that contributes to the protection of the environment.

That aims to improve the local people's quality of life, we can promise that you will return home with a lasting sense of satisfaction and calm.

We are offering you several experiences rolled into one; those that fancy adventures on the high seas will love the Marine based part of our programme.

This involves monitoring and spotting dolphins, sharks, whale sharks, turtles and many other marine species.

You will be collecting data on species that will allow us over the next few years to establish a comprehensive database of the marine species in the area and will allow us to research the potential impact of climate change on certain species, namely the humpback whales and the effect of rising sea temperature on their migration patterns.

If however you have visions of yourself dressed from head to toe in Khaki wielding a pair of binoculars, then our forest programme will definitely get you twitching !

You will be assessing the impact of deforestation on the local primate and bird populations by collecting data on the species you find.

The local forest area is completely undiscovered and currently deemed to be one of the world's biodiversity hotspots.

Who knows, you may even find a new species.

Last but by certainly no means least, is your opportunity to do work 'Lenny Henry' style along side the local kids, we run projects working with the local schools and community to provide better opportunities and to encourage participation in schemes that will ensure a better future for them through re-forestation projects and improving teaching facilities.

No one experience can claim to show you the direct effects of climate change as there are always so many contributing factors, however, Go See Kenya can provide an opportunity for people to be a part of a community which is and will continue to be affected by climate change and therefore people will be able to contribute to increasing knowledge through research, raising awareness through education and learn that these methods are vital as tools for sustainable conservation.
