I just learned this morning that my favorite elephant, Echo, the matriarch of over 30 elephants in Amboseli, age 65, who just gave birth to a calf about a year and a half ago, has been missing for about a month. The researchers are frantically trying to find her.

She and her family sometimes go to Tanzania, but they go as a group and come back as a group. This time they can't find Echo and some of her family members have been spotted in Amboseli with other families. She is so very recognizable with her crossed tusks (tip of right tusk crossed over left). Aerial searches are being planned to see if they can find her (or worse, her remains).

Please all say a few prayers that Echo will return safely.
