Thanks for the explanation bwanamich. From all I've read in the papers, it seemed as though every individual (not community council) owning small acreage was looking to have hunters come so the landowner could make some money.

If an individual owns ten acres of land, how does the Community Council control what the individual does on it since it is not community property?

You also suprised me by your statement

Warthogs, impala, gazelles, zebra, wildebeest and other "common" species are as desirable as the rarer or dangerous game species. Probably more safaris for non dangerous game (i.e. no cats, elephant, buffalo, rhino, hippo and croc) are conducted every year in Africa than the other way round

10 acres or anything close to that is not conducive to a hunting business. Single land owners, unless they have over 5000 acres of private land should not waste their time getting involved in the hunting industry. I know there are much smaller properties in Southern Africa that do hunt but that is undesirable to most hunters. Hunting on small acreage will never attract sufficient demand; besides, that is not "hunting" as per its common definition.

Plains game hunting packages are extremnely popular in SA, Namibia, Botswana and to a lesser extent in Zim, Zambia and Tanzania. Most hunters that start of hunting Africa will begin with a plains game package. They are much cheaper to begin with and then a natural progression towards hunting what is classified as Dangerous Game is the norm.
