I am guessing that you mean names of companies/offenders that have poor driver/guides?

What I have done in the past is write down the license number of the offending vehicle along with the name of the company that vehicle/guide works for. I then contact Kenya Wildlife Service and report them directly.

In Amboseli the worst drivers I've seen have been from Pollman's. I've reported some of them as well as others. KWS can then talk with the company and give them a warning and/or can even restrict that driver from entering the park.

Naming names was what I was looking for. Thanks. Contacting KWS is one angle. Telling prospective visitors is another. Thanks for mentioning Pollman\'s.

My guide Felix (don\'t remember his last name) who is a Silver award driver for Origins in Kenya was a real stickler for rules and had no problem yelling at other drivers for breaking them. For anyone skimming for names Origins upheld all rules.

i am not sure whether i have mentioned them:

AFRICA SAFARI CLUB - they mostly have these "zebra" vehicles. these are the worst i have encountered. in the mara (mara buffalo camp is theirs) they couldn't switch off the engines. they had to push in the morning to get the cars going resulting in watching cats while the engine was running for up to half an hour! of course they could not switch off because in that case the guests would have been obliged to push the car to get it going again.

i have complained about it with no result! the owner of the company is the second biggest employer in kenya (from switzerland). so no one would dream of raising that more than questionable behaviour.

but mara buffalo camp is a typical low end camp which is frequented by "once in a life time" safari guests who prefer to stay in mombasa or diani and just do a quick 2 or 3 night safari for cheap money.
in that regard i have to agree with TAZ.

but i assume it's not the kind of safaristi who thinks of posting on a wildlife/environment/naturalist board.

Such a pity to read this about African Safari Club - 25 years ago they were really at the top of the wave in the safari business and in the leisure industry. The last 5 to 8 years has seen a dramatic change in their policy, equipement and from a high profile company I understand from reading articles and friends in the hotel business, they have gone into serious financial difficulties.
This explaines their cars and 4x4 situation that need to be pushed by clients if the engine is cut ... Pity once a very recognised company - now a company with a damaged reputation struggling to survive and still doing wrong moves....

Please excuse me for being naive; but can someone please explain what evidence they have that KWS will take any action at all against drivers that are reported.

Also if anyone knows _exactly_ what are the KWS park rules, please will they post them here. If we do not know what are the rules, or if the rules are not specific, then how can we report any one for contravening them?

Again, sorry for being so naive; but I would appreciate some clarification on the above questions.
