I just posted several of my old videos. One is of being totally surrounded by two bickering elephant families in Samburu. We couldn't have moved if we had to.

The one I just posted is of a baby and Mamma hippo chasing six lions away from Aruba Dam back in 2005. The rumor was that one of the lions had swatted the baby hippo on the back side several days prior, so it was pay back time.

I apologize for the tracking interference on the hippo video. The tape had been stored in a cabinet for six years so it has somewhat degraded. In addition, I didn't have a tripod and was just hand holding the camera. Hope you'll enjoy both videos.

It takes nature millions of years to evolve a new species. It takes only minutes to eradicate one from the wild forever.

Thank you so much for sharing, Jan. Wonderful video of a rare occasion.

If your videos are "degrading" in your cabinet, you should make some kind of backup of the rest before they are lost for good.

I know you are right Simba. However, I have so many of them it would take forever to back them all up onto DVD's. I usually take somewhere between 6 and 10 videos tapes each trip. One of these days perhaps I'll get around to it.
