Coastweek -- Five Forty Aviation in conjunction with the Kenya Red Cross Society have delivered and distributed 11 tonnes of famine relief food to Wajir and Turkana Districts.
Jackie Arkle-Okutoi, the Five Forty Aviation Sales and Marketing Manager for East Africa, explained, “Ten flights have been pledged by the airline to help the Kenya Red Cross speed delivery of famine food to areas in desperate need of supplies which include Garissa, Mandera, Moyale, Turkana and Wajir.”
“We are happy to announce that the first delivery of the famine relief food to Wajir was carried out successfully by our Five Forty Aviation Fokker Cargo 27 aircraft.
“The 5.5 tonnes of Unimix was distributed by the Kenya Red Cross to the Makoror and Bulla Isiolo villages and also to the Wajir Hospital .”
“The cargo flight to Turkana Airstrip transported 5.5 tonnes of maize meal donated by Shree Digamber Jain Mumuksh Mandal Temple .
“This food donation was organised by the airline’s Commercial Manager, Sujal Raja-Haria.
“The maize flour was allocated to different villages in Turkana District by the Kenya Red Cross Society.”
“Our two Fokker-27 cargo aircraft meet the growing demand for cargo services in the East and Central African region.
“These charter aircraft have a cargo capacity of 5.5 tonnes and will be used in this famine relief operation.”
