Sorry for getting back to the initial topic...
They might as well increase the park fees to 600 US$. Anyhow it has reached a level where only the rich can afford to visit the Masai Mara.
At least this way the likelihood increases that the money goes from one deep pocket to another
Simba
Let's wait another 6 months; the Credit Crunch is just showing its impact and I think it's goping to demage severely any African destination.
Despite the Kenyan Tourism Office doesn't get tired to state "tourism in Kenya is on the increase" the camp "specials" also for peak season aren't stopping coming in!
Specials are the norm now. Being it Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania or even Botswana and South Africa.
Great deals can be received for the whole of 2009.
Rates are not going to be increased also for 2010 generally speaking. But there are some camps which think they can afford to increase "slightly" for 2010. These are the ones which start very early next year sending out their "specials".
I am watching this with relief despite I fear for the animals. Poaching might increase even further. But for the Mara cats it definately will be much more pleasant when cars are not going to interfere with their lifestyle that horrendously.
