Alas!
Any foreign deaths will now be attributed to the violence it would seem that this incident was robbery related & nothing to do with the political violence.
Would the perpetrators of the crimes have carried them out under normal conditions?
Or have they used the unrest to hide their crime?
It is the politicians that are biting the hand that feeds them !!

Crime has always been a problem in this country - this one just came at a bad time. I don't think it really has anything to do with what is going on in the country. But given the fears of the recession in the USA which threatens the world as a whole, Kenya as a destination would likely have suffered as a result of that too. Therefore, if the current situation had not prevailed, many in the tourism sector stood to have lost their jobs through a possible decline in tourism numbers, as we have seen in the past. Therefore, that would have again resulted in an increase in crime but should that have been the case, it would not have gotten the media attention it does today. Its just that the timing is bad and thus its all over the news!
