Maybe you also want to verify in the Terms and Conditions of e-bay. I do check e-bay germany every now and then but I must say it is quite a drag to search through all the non-relevant stuff that simply includes the word ivory etc.

Sorry - did I read correct Carsten? - you have to show a document that the Ivory is older than 1st June 1947 to be able to legally sell it ...... !!! Complete and utter B... that is Rubbish (not commenting on you Carsten but the rules) - we are in 2007 and the Ivory has to be older than 50 years.... I am sure 80% of the Ivory is less than that. All documents must be a complete fake.... Lets get real - how can these organisations make such rubbish rules and expect it to work?

So far the US of A seems to be the worse for no certificates! I\'ve found a dealer listing a number of items!

Does the term"Vintage" exempt the item?

I see one little problem with the listings. According to the terms & conditions you are only asked to state that you have this certificate.

Please state in your item listing whether you are in possession of an Article 10 certificate if it is required.

This means, we probably notify e-bay endless times about items where the seller has a certificate and simply didn't mention it.

Maybe we could convince ebay to change their rules to "You MUST state that you have this certificate".

But then again, who will controll this?

Let's try it anyway. Kipper, would you be so kind as to report this to ebay and let us know if you get any feed-back? Once we know what happens I am sure the same steps can be applied world-wide.

Nico: Yes, it is really a joke but the truth. I do not know if the terms & conditions equal to international law or if they are their own regulations but as a result to international pressure from NGOs ebay introduced these regulations and since they did, we might as well pin point on them.

eBay tells me "Item not valid or belongs to an item that has ended. Please try again"

Could this be because the rule does not apply in the USA?

Ok! Further on, I'm unable to ask eBay about this because their system does not allow for general questions!
Perhaps Jan if you try you may get a different result your side of the pond. Perhaps this rule does not apply there?
I'll look for a UK listing without proof!
