I'm intrigued by the wee lass Jane uses as an avatar, who is she, where was the photo taken, why is she your avatar?

So how about it gang What is important about your avatar & why do you use it?

Is it personal to you or is it a stock picture?

I'm sure there are some good stories to be told.

Mine is just a photo I took several years ago on my last game drive in Amboseli for that trip. We were heading back to the lodge when I spotted a lovely "family photo op". A nice bull who wasn't interested in females for one reason only and was enjoying time with the females and babies and they, in turn, were
showing him love and affection. I know, I'm being anthropomorphic transferring my feelings toward wildife but it was a sight you don't see very often there. Usually the males stay alone unless they are in musth and want to breed.

I kind of liked the idea to be the king of the jungle = the web master of Bushdrums.

Then again I should have chosen a more rare animal, considering the frequency at which I am online

Simba:

You know what is happening to all the kings of the jungle. Do you have a food and drink tester?

Kipper--just saw this now. I took this picture in Tanzania in the Rift Valley. We were able to spend some time with a Datoga family in their compound--man, 2 women and 4 children and some animals. When we first arrived, the women were in the field, howing the crop. The husband arrived back to the compound while we were there after a long walk from an outpost many kms. away. We felt very fortunate to have this opportunity. It was a very isolated compound with nothing else around for kms. except for some nomadic Hadzabe people with whom we spent 3 days. This is a picture of yours truly being allowed to coo to the baby. I felt honored.

Thanks Jane, I just love the little lasses expression!

As for my tiger?
This was our first India trip, we were on elephant searching for & found a tigress with 3 adult cubs! The three cubs in turn climbed the rock, their interest thank goodness was the elephant & not us! We were very close!

The mahoot calmed the elephant all the time with gentle words untill from his old sack bag he withdrew his Canon SLR with motor drive & the most up to date 300m zoom lens!!
He was wearing a well worn shirt & shorts
I wonder if some enterprising Photographer had supplied him with the kit in the hope of getting some good shots?
