Thank you Jan and Pippa for your kind words. My wife and I were indeed very fortunate and blessed to have experienced the true beauty of this park. The only "down" side is the more we go to Africa the more we want to go back!!

PT123: Ah ha! You are now hooked like the rest of us!

I'm leaving in about two weeks to spend a two week stay at Satao Camp in Tsavo East. I'm told that this week there are 500+ elephants at the waterhole per day along with buffalo and giraffes. Can't wait to get back there.

I've never been bored there yet.

We've been back two days now and I'm not ready to do much of a report. Eventually I'll probably do it all on my blog. But...we did have a wonderful time and saw many things. Casey, who turned 12 in the Mara, says he'll never go to a zoo again. As far as Amboseli...it looks good; however, not all of the wildlife there has fully recovered from the bad times. We came across two lions which were in very poor condition to the degree that one was unable to even drink from the standing water. We watched these two for quite a while and it was quite sad. Hopefully the wildlife people will find them and help.

We did see many elephants, of course, as well as other animals and birds. The mountain showed itself every morning and evening which was quite nice of it. Our tent looked directly towards it so the wake-up was exquisite. The traffic there was very light.

Hi Jane: Glad you had a good time. Did your guide indicate that the lions might have been poisoned? The Maasai nearby have been poisoning lions off and on for the last year. Of course there is always the possibility that it had a broken jaw from an attempted kill.

Will look forward to reading your trip report when you recover from the flight. You were quite fortunate to have seen Kili so often. On some trips I've seen her clearly only once in a week.
