Weather puts ostriches in the mood for love

January 17 2007 at 02:26AM

Athens - Unseasonably warm weather has got male ostriches in northern Greece all aflutter, looking to mate some three months earlier than usual, a report said on Tuesday.

Workers at an ostrich-breeding farm in Hortiatis, near the northern port city of Thessaloniki, said the males were getting frisky - to the dismay of females warding off their advances.

In some cases, though, the birds had mated and the females had begun to lay eggs, the Greek daily Kathimerini said.

The mating season usually begins around March and lasts up to six months. - Sapa-dpa

I can only confirm this. Not that I am an ostriche, but the temperatures are really quite high

Example: Our lowest temperatures at night these days are about 13 degrees Celsius

On sunny days, which is the usual thing, we have upto 20 degrees around lunch time! No wonder the ostriches are getting frisky

weather forecast for beginning next week: snow and 0 °C after we had 16 today!
january so far was 6 - 8 °C too warm compared to average! and there are still politicians out there who simply reject that such a thing like "climate change" exists
and mr. g-w-b from the states obviously thinks that climate change won't be able to cross the border into the land where milk and honey flows....(at least for his buddies in the upper class )

What do you mean with "cross borders"? America is the biggest producer of carbondioxide in the first place! And they can not be bothered to sign or stick to any conventions.

All those storms and weather changes? Well, it's obviously the weathers fault

Some time ago I saw a documentary about America having found a new solution for carbonmonoxide disposal.

The poisonous gas is pumped deep into the sea. At 4000 meters depth, the gas is compressed so much(due to the pressure of the water above it), that the gas becomes heavier than water and hence it stays down there. According to those scientists that introduced this technique, there is no life soo deep in the sea, so there would be no damage.

Now what a joke is this?? First of all whales dive that deep and they don't do this for the fun of it but because they catch deep-sea octopus and other fish. So - life exists down there. And secondly scientists come up with new species of deep-sea life every day and keep repeating themselves that they still have no clue what else is swimming around down there. We do not have the technical means to examin the deep sea well enough to be sure.

Yet GWB continues with this...

"joe average" in the states obviously assumes that there isn't such thing like pollution ...at least in the states he just doesn't think that driving a rediculous car which consumes 20 or 25 ltr fuel harms the environment.
by mentioning this gas "solution" you see what scientists do to this planet! think of the good things scientists have brought to us but also about the bad things................and put it onto a wheighing machine. i would really like to know the balance!
i am also sure that all these tsunamis and earthquakes are related to all this digging for oil and gas! as far as i am concerned i think these desasters are just earth's re-action to these abuses!
