South Africa mulls using elephants, with their acute sense of smell, to detect poachers.

In South Africa, the demand for rhino horn is at an all-time high, and the black market price of around $55,000 per kilogram has definitely led to an increase in poaching.

Over 300 cases of poaching were recorded just last year, more than triple that of the year before.

Now elephants could be the rhino's unlikely protector. There are plans to use the elephants - with their acute sense of smell - to halt poachers in their tracks.
