To donate money to this poor excuse for a zoo is not a solution.
The money will no doubt end up in some administrators pocket and have no direct benifit on the animals.
Killing lion cubs and selling the dead bodies to taxidermists is a source of revenue for the zoo. As long as they can make money in this fashion, they will continue with this practice.
Only enormous International pressure and outrage may have a hope of stopping the killing.
Ethiopia will not allow any of these lions to leave the country and do not seem interested in the option of sterilisation.
Drakenstein:
If what you say is true, it is truly a sad and desperate situation
Does anyone have any ideas of how to bring this terribly cruel situation to the world's attention so pressure can be put on the zoo to close? If they can't/won't properly care for the animals they have, then they shouldn't have any.
Thank you for posting your information. If you have any ideas we would appreciate hearing about them.
when i visit professional travel trade fairs i will grab each and every opportunity to confront every ethiopia exhibitor. but i doubt they exhibit!
what we can do is just bombard the officials with outcry emails.......get them aware that the world is watching. also all of the tour companies should be aware that only negative promotion will be executed!! boycott will be the only but direct answer to get them think!!!
