The wounded sub-adult lion we watched close to the Talek/Mara conflux on 13 Feb is confirmed dead. The wounds were too heavy; it looked like a wound inflicted by a buff or comav´bting another lion/ess reaching from mid hintleg towards ribcage.

The lioness RED which lived in the Mara for 12 years has disappeared without her pride. She is also believed to be dead.

Two great losses in just a couple of weeks. Just two of which we know of

So very sad to lose old friends. One can only hope if they both died, that death came swiftly so they wouldn't have suffered for a long time.

It takes nature millions of years to evolve a new species. It takes only minutes to eradicate one from the wild forever.

As I just have learned RED had been killed by Massai because of preyin on lifestock

The wounded lion we observed most probably had a did suffer a lot as the wound of course had inflicted a lot of pain. If sepsis took over.........I don't know what that does to a body. Hopefully his pride defended him from Hyenas.
