Thanks Cody and Pippa. I just got back today and will eventually be doing a trip report. It was
certainly a different safari with many animals everywhere dying. Devastating!
Though truly disappointing, I am glad I went when I did. We read every year of "drought in Africa", so I figured it was just more of the same. However, from the day I arrived in Amboseli to the day I left Tsavo I realized it wasn't the usual drought one reads about.
Will write more about the trip once I get back on "home time" and get a few things done around here.

That was exactly my impression, Jan! I've also come back from Kenya two weeks ago and found Amboseli and Tsavo exceptionally dry. Samburu was even worse. Ewaso Ngiro River didn't have a single drop of water and the locals said they had never seen the river that dry within the last 25 years...
