This is a movie filmed and produced by Simon Trevor (who has filmed wildlife on many Hollywood films) from Voi in Tsavo. Simon runs an organization www.aeffonline.org whereby he uses his years worth of video film to make movies to donate to the schools in Kenya to teach the children something of their precious wildlife. It is an extremely comprehensive film dealing with all sorts of problems with wildlife, and one I suspect holds pretty true for all African countries. Extremely well done.

Wanted - Dead or Alive by Simon Trevor
Examples of the bad things tourism creates for wildlife:
Elephants get their revenge on tourists and guide too close to them:

Don't know what caused this elephant's hole in the head - ? human related:

The video is not the best folks. I had no tripod with me and I was cold and excited so it is shakey. However, it shows the hopefulness of the wildlife situation in Kenya when these men from Ol Tukai Lodge volunteered on their "off time" to come and help rescue this elephant mired in a mudhole. It was exciting for me to witness this.
What on earth are tourists and guide doing soo close to elephants with young ones in the water ??? They are really lucky they didn´t get killed!
In general I noticed that in most videos the animals are always nervous about the presence of humans. Elephants are constantly waving their heads (a sign of discomfort about somethings presence) and often taking first steps towards the camera (threatening to charge). Even the buffalos ran away. Many times I noticed that the camera-person was in the wrong place (wind blowing the smell of humans towards the animals). When this happens, you should back off and try to approach them again from the other side. This way you get closer and the animals are relaxed.
Havn´t seen it all yet, will continue my comments later...
Carsten:
I agree with you regarding the swimming elephants. It was such a beautiful picture to watch until you realized how close the boat was coming to the family. They should have backed WAY off. I blame that one on the guides and not on the tourists. They should have known better.
