Here is my first Video of Botswana.

As usual poor quality of YouTube although I did find a way to better the quality.
(Thinks!...Now how did I do that?)

I'm trying a different format to improve the quality!

Awesome video. Looked like one of those bulls was ready to take you on . Ears out, trunk tucked under and coming right for you. How close did he actually get?

You must have been using a tripod? The filming was much steadier than I ever accomplish.

I think he was only checking us out. There was a lodge vehicle further along the bank near to where the bulls were leaving the channel & I think that is why he came our way.
I think to start the car to move would have caused a problem as it was he stopped in front of the vehicle & checked us out some more at about 6 meters!
As with the bull at the camp site he had entered our space knowing we were there & all was fine until the chair squeaked!

I must add that although this was a self drive camping trip our friend Benson was with us.
Benson is a qualified Zimbabwe guide registered in Botswana & elsewhere. He has managed & set up the guiding system for a number of Lodges in Botswana & Zimbabwe.

This trip we took little equipment as we were also delivering school uniforms for a children's charity. No tripod just a very good beanbag, nicknamed "Catnip" Had it tied by cord to the vehicle so that I couldn't drop it & a number of times it was dragged beside the vehicle! Our great success with cats was attributed to this.

I should have added for those that do not know about "Catnip"

Catnip is the herb Nepeta & is irresistible to cats, they just love to rub against it & in it pet shops sell Catnip filled toys for feline pets.

As I said I forsake the tripod, clamps & other paraphernalia this year so that I could carry the school uniforms for the orphanage, so instead of Mr Gadget-man I was Make-do-man.
The bean-bag was a great last minute buy.
The number of sighting of Lions, Leopards & other smaller cats as well as Cheetah was attributed to dragging the bean-bag around accidentally.
After a careful retrieval after dropping the bag near lions the cord was added to prevent further problems.
