Many of us have been to Kenya or other countries in East Africa, so most of us will know all the good Lodges and sites.

But what about the restaurants? I am sure if we all take a minute, we will come up with heaps of restaurants and not all of us will know them all.

So, why don't you just answer below and let me know which restaurants you remember or which you liked most. Be as detailed as possible and I will then set up a list where we can submit our reviews if we have been there.

One of my favorite places when in Nairobi is Tamambo located in the Mall at Westlands. They have great food, a large variety, some local dishes, and some new twists on local dishes (Ugali Fries). They also mix up a pretty potent drink called a Dawa which is a must if you go there.

The staff is very friendly and they are always willing to accommodate larger groups with a few days notice. And if they are still doing it in the morning (if ordered the night before) you can swing by on the way out to safari and pick up fresh bagels and seven grain bread (both amazing) for the dusty road ahead.

Beware they are closed on Mondays.

Cape Town/South Africa BAIA - Waterfront Seafood excellent selection of starters, maine courses, desserts excellent location with table mountain view price range: high - but worthwhile!

Cape Town/Hout Bay Mariner's Warf excellent fish restaurant, wonderful view, directly at the waterfront for lunch and dinner price range: moderate not a fancy one but excellent!

Franschhoek/45 min. north-east of Cape Town Le Qartier Francaise excellent starters, marvelous main courses and desserts to die for! excellent winelist - of course south african ! price range: high bookings essential! www.lqf.co.za

Stellenbosch/45 min. north-east of Cape Town Grand Roche Hotel/Restaurant wonderful cape holland architecture restaurant with terrasse - beautiful location excellent menue, very good wine list, extremly nice athmosphere lunch (terrasse!) and dinner

Mount Nelson Hotel/Cape Town High Tea ist a wonderful thing here! cones etc. in a excellent restaurant and wonderful setting! not cheap but wothwhile to go at least ones to experience the "old english" way of life!

I would say a great place to eat in Mombasa - towards Kilifi is Porini Village.
Based on the main mombasa Malindi road before Kikambala.
Wonderful local food with a hint of influence from the Seychelles -
Great ambiance and very local. Good priced.

Yes!........I agree!........... Porini Village is still a very good Restaurant!

Another Classic one and still very, very good:- "The Tamarind Restaurant" in Mombasa!
