Other people I've been in contact with state that it will have to come to a standstill soon because there is no food or fuel left for anyone as the trucks haven't been able to get through to the retailers.

Europe, Australia, Britain and the U.S. have all warned their people that unless travel to Kenya is absolutely necessary, people should not go to Kenya now. I am due to go the begining of February, so I will follow what is going on very closely before making a decision as to whether to postpone.

The lack of trust of people within Kenya, and tourism going into another slump will again knock the country back instead of moving it forward. It will hurt everyone.

Kind of ironical isn't it when Lucy Kibaki can violently slap others (as she has multiple times at public venues before), that now Kibaki is calling for a stop to the violence. I question his sincerity.

You really missed it my friend. It has happened on a few occasions. The first time was when one of Kibaki's party members mistakenly introduced Lucy with Kibaki's lady friend's name. She has no qualms about slapping people in the face in public. The last time was about two weeks ago. If he can't control her violence, how can he control the violence this week?

I'd like to add before we all forsake Kenya, my understanding from insider reports from there are that the press is making a meal of this.

To put it into perspective take a look at tourist advice from various governments. All telling you not to travel! Now look at what some say about your own country. I definitely do not live in the country that the American State Department warns me about! ... And.....I'm sure that Americans do not live in the country that the UK Foreign Office warns me about! The same goes for Australia & others!

Don't worry Ives, it's just you, Nico, kipper and me around. We are the only forum on the internet that is open to the public but nobody reads it

It's not so hard guys. All he needed to do is tell her that if she embarrassed him again in public she would make no more public appearances - and, since she wouldn't be "earning" her keep, with that would go all the new shoes, dresses, coiffures, manicures, new cars, etc. Decorum would be learned pretty quickly I think.
