Namibia: Revamped Waterberg Camp Open

The Namibian (Windhoek)
April 23, 2007
Absalom Shigwedha

THE Waterberg Camp run by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) was revamped to provide a whole new experience to visitors, Environment and Tourism Minister Willem Konjore said at the opening of the resort on Friday.

"The facilities have been changed to improve views of the surrounding nature and to provide greater comfort," said Konjore, who officiated at the opening ceremony.

At the same occasion, he also introduced NWR's new logo, designed by Advantage McCann.

He said refurbishing the camp was a positive development, especially when one reflects on the not-so-distant past, when NWR found itself with a poor possibility of recovery.

The refurbishing of the Waterberg Camp is part of the NWR's turnaround strategy, aimed at bringing its services in line with international standards.

The renovations took three months and focused on improving the interior décor and comfort by removing all concrete beds and improving facilities.

This was followed by staff training to improve service delivery.

With 69 accommodation units and 40 camping sites under towering camel-thorn trees, the camp can accommodate about 450 guests.

You are running out of places to go to in sub-saharan Africa Seriously, why did you go to Namibia until now when you knew Namibia allowed hunting in the first place? and why are you planning a trip to Zambia who also allow hunting?

bwanamich,
i think i have posted this earlier: namibia allows cheetah hunting and that makes it difficult for us! despite i don't agree with any hunting there are places in africa where there is a kind of monitoring the whole hunting stuff. but namibia is the most unethically hunting ground i can think of!

secondly - life is a constant learning process. therefore we travelled to namibia in 2002 to research the country. wonderful landscape but not a big 5 destination as such.
then i found out by doing some research about this cheetah hunting promotion and that's when i decided to stop promoting the destination alltogether!!!
