open letter to mr. president kibaki

dear mr. president kibaki,

as we got aware there are ambitions in kenya towards re-introducing trophy hunting!

as incentive house and travel consultants very much involved in eco tourism to kenya we massively oppose any kind of trophy hunting being re-introduced!

we honestly hope that the hunter's lobby in kenya won't be able to lead to a change of the present legislation towards trophy hunting means force you to introduce trophy hunting again because your wildlife is your and your people and their children's and grandchildren's heritage and nobody - nobody - has got the right to cash in on that heritage means sell that heritage for dollars which only serve a very few people!!

as you know best eco-tourism is sustainable tourism which brings wealth to your country and its people. contrary to sustainable tourism is trophy hunting where an animals is killed for fun or sport and therefore shooting wildlife with e rifle or bow and arrow means killing your extremly valueable assets once and forever.

nowadays because of the internet avaiability to millions of people around the world who care about the environment and wildlife we have got the perfect means to spread word around the globe and make people aware of what is going on.

it would be a disgrace to kenya if trophy hunting is going to be re-introduced especially after kenya has got one of the declared wonders of the world now: the massai mara!

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/160781929

it must be our mutual goal to beware kenya's wildlife for future generations!

best regards and please keep up the flag against lobbyists in this serious case!

I don't think your argument against hunting is strong enough in the letter other than voicing your own sentimental opinion. You might have to boycott Kenya if they introduce hunting........

as you know best eco-tourism is sustainable tourism which brings wealth to your country and its people.

Please explain to me how you think eco-tourism brings wealth to the country of Kenya and its people and hunting wouldn't?

To state that

contrary to sustainable tourism is trophy hunting where an animals is killed for fun or sport and therefore shooting wildlife with e rifle or bow and arrow means killing your extremly valueable assets once and forever
shows how little you understand about the subject. wildlife in todays world can be a renewable resource (similar to a crop just like maize or banana's). You look after it and you can "harvest" the crop every year but still maintain or increase quantity.

thanks bwanamich for your thoughts!
i won't argue - just let me point out: humans are renewable more than the planet can bear! is that a reason to "consumpt" them? as you know i don't differentiate between animals and humans because humans are animals and supposed to be superior because they have got education and therefore skills which animals admittedly don't have. but as we see every day that very intellect will bring us all to the egde of extinction. on the long run: animals have much more right to live on earth than we have!

on the long run: animals have much more right to live on earth than we have!

Why is that? After all, we humans are at the top of the food chain (figuratively not literally).

Pippa,
you need to have a much more positive outlook in life, particularly in the human species. You continously refer to doomsday scenarios for all living creatures. We are part of natures' cycle of life! If you believe that nature has an answer to its problems, such as allowing nature to take its course in the elephant over-population crisis in certain areas, then that should be true for us humans as well? You don't believe humans can defeat nature can you?

- positive outlook: one must be living on an island on its own to NOT realise where we are steering - or being extremely ignorant! global warming alone will teach us a lesson of which we yet have no idea of all the consequences we are facing. maybe not we personally but our children!
- HUNTING is the topic! killing for fun and sport! killing animals and deplete their genpool will lead to extinction! have you got already an answer at hand when your kids start questioning why you took part in this and made a living of it?
- nature takes its course a million times each day also in view to humans! there is nothing wrong with it!
- you are perfectly right: we are PART of nature and not superior!!! we have no right to decide which animal has got a right to live and wich one doesn't and make it even more bizarr and call that crime against natural heritage of all of us "conservation".
- who has given you the right and the courage to hunt and kill animals which belong to all peoples natural heritage!
face it: by claiming this right you declare yourself superior to any masai which is not allowed to hunt for meat!
hunting for money is a better cause than hunting for a meal?
not in a thousand years will there be an explanation which makes me consider hunting sustainable!

have the courage and follow the petitionlink and face the statements there! quite frankly if i were a hunter at least now i would reconsider what i am doing by killing animals right now!
